EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students)

EJU is an examination for international students who wish to study at any universities, junior colleges or vocational schools in Japan. And some of schools included some universities in Japan adopt EJU as their selection examination of international students to evaluate their Japanese language abilities and basic academic abilities, which are required to understand the lessons at universities in Japan.

And EJU has been used as selection examination of some universities and vocational schools since 2002. Before EJU, "The Japanese Language Proficiency Test" and "the General Examination for Foreign Students" had been used.

Examination Date

EJU are conducted twice in a year (June and November) in Japan and some other countries and regions. And the schedules in 2007 are written below.

Examination Subjects

We can check out which subjects we'll take on the below table. When we take the examination, we must select the subjects that specified by our school of choice. So we must decide our school of choice and know the subjects, which we're required to select before taking EJU.

*We can't take both Science test and Japan and world test at the same time.

In additionally, we can select an examination language from Japanese or English when we send in our application. So if the school doesn't specify the examination language, we can also take EJU in English. But, we must take a subject that is Japanese language in Japanese even if we select English as the examination language.

The way to enter any universities in Japan

Some of Japanese universities and vocational schools give the acceptance to students to enter the school by their results of the EJU and their school records of high school in their countries. So, they can receive their acceptance in their countries if it's possible to take the EJU in their countries.

But, the schedules and ways to enter Japanese school depend on universities and vocational schools. So we must check the detail of them. And the below page may help to collect the information about universities in Japan.
